Book Redesign

The Beatles: Beatlemania for fans of the Fab Four is a book focusing on “one of the greatest bands of all time,” The Beatles. It is a tribute to the musical group and a recollection of their story. Through year-by-year and album-by-album descriptions, facts about their singles and side projects, as well as photographs of the group, this book records the story of their career. The audience of this book is recognized in the original book’s title, fans of the Fab Four. This includes a broad range of individuals from fans who grew up as the band did in the 50s and 60s, to the generations that followed and were raised to love the iconic band. The book is a biography of factual information that took place throughout their career. Therefore, the intended audience is in their adulthood, anywhere from late teens to their grandparents. They are already familiar with The Beatles but always want to learn more detailed accounts of their career, as well as visually engage in a book that embodies their colorful music. This project is a Redesign of illustrated book of your own choosing. In determining your choice for a redesign don’t pick a book that you think is already well designed. Instead find a book whose subject matter is interesting to you and will provide design possibilities. You will design a minimum of 12 parts for your book: a cover, title page, table of contents, and 8 typical spreads including at least one chapter opening/divider spread, and 6 – 7 spreads with illustration(s). These spreads must have variety and as a group address all the fundamental problems of the publication. You must also design a special feature not found in the original book and that grows out of your books subject matter, adding extra value to the book.
